How To: Create the Perfect Ballet Bun

Creating a flat ballet bun:
  1. The secret to any great bun is to start with a great ponytail! Get your hair straight and even, brushing it firmly to a ponytail. A little gel can help smooth things out and make it nice and tidy. Then use a tail comb to remove any bumps.
  2. Secure the ponytail with an elastic, the same colour as hair to ensure it won't be seen. Lightly twist the ponytail to help hold it together as you wrap it around the base of the ponytail.
  3. Follow the direction you twisted your hair for a neat, tight bun. if you twisted clockwise, wrap clockwise. As you wrap secure with ripple pins as you go. This will also hold the bun to the head, very important! Then place extra bun pins evenly around the bun.
  4. To keep the bun tidy and stop hair falling, secure the bun with a hair net. Then place a few more bun pins into the bun to secure the hair net. Finish off with hairspray to ensure there is no fly away hairs especially at the sides and fringe.

Using a bun donut:
