Our gorgeous Chloe just returned from her first professional contract overseas, below she talks about her experience on a cruise ship travelling the Mediterranean!
-
I recently just finished up an eight month contract on a cruise ship over in Europe and wanted to give you all a sneak peak as to exactly what that looked like.
-
I rehearsed in Miami, Florida in the USA for two months total. We stayed in group accommodation which the company provided to us. It was a short walk from the studio where we rehearsed each day. Rehearsals ran from 9am-5pm, Monday through Saturday.
-
My cast consisted of four female dancers, four male dancers, two female singers, two male singers and four acrobats. After rehearsals were completed, we joined the ship in Rome, Italy.
-
Once onboard we took another month to prepare all 5 shows in the entertainment venue. I was on board the cruise ship for 6 months and travelled to Italy, France, Spain, Greece, Turkey, United Kingdom and Mexico throughout my contract.
-
My entire contract consisted of 7-day cruises which allowed for 2 days off each week. Most show days consisted of getting off in port in the morning and exploring new sights and trying local food.
-
Our tech rehearsals ran from 3pm-5pm which allowed us to run over the show for the night and run any technical aspects such as lighting and sound. After the tech run was complete, we would eat dinner in the crew mess hall and begin our hair and makeup to commence our 7:30pm and 9:30pm shows.
-
Occasionally the shows would be postponed or cancelled due to the odd occurrence of rough seas but where injury or illness was concerned we had to re space each show according to who was absent.
-
Overall it was an incredible life experience and I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.
